The CIBP Congress is held every three years. It is one of the main events of the Confederation. It gathers delegates from all member organizations coming from local and central entities. They address topics of common strategic interest for all CIBP members and attract a large number of high-ranking personalities in the finance and credit field.

The last Congress took place in Québec City, Canada on 7-10 July 2010 under the theme: “How to Better Harmonize Financial Performance and Cooperative Performance?”, hosted by Desjardins Group.

The Congress was divided into three subthemes:

1. Specificity of Cooperative Banks in the Relationship with their Members and Customers
2. The Definition of Financial Performance for Cooperative Banks or "Patient Banking"
3. Good Governance and Sound Growth Strategies

These subjects are specifically relevant within the context of the existing financial crisis. The idea was to demonstrate that the cooperative model is still efficient and able to bring modern solutions to a globalized world.
