Banco Credicoop Cooperativo Limitado resulted from the merger of 44 Cooperative Credit Unions, the longest of them being established in 1918. Later on, and joining forces, they incorporated the Cooperative Bank in 1979. Credicoop is a non-profit institution whose aim, on the basis of the principle of reciprocal aid, is to offer financial services to all its members. These members run the bank through the Board of Directors elected according to the principle: "one member, one vote". Furthermore, each member can participate in the institutional life of the Bank thanks to the Commissions of Associates which exist in each branch and cooperate with the Board. A full range of services that meet individuals' and enterprises' financial needs is available at its head office located in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, and at its 246 affiliates all around the country. Banco Credicoop distinguishes itself by its professional management skills focused in the attention of small and medium-sized enterprises, reaching 13.69%of the private banks and 8.79% of the total of the banks, in that market share. Deposits raised revert with priority to provide financing in the same locality. A desire to contribute to the national economic progress, and the construction of a solidary society with distributive equity to ensure a life with dignity to the Argentine people.
Credicoop retains a privileged position in the ranking within the Argentine Financial System. It scores first place among Private Institutions with 100% of domestic ownership. Likewise, Banco Credicoop is the most important Cooperative Bank in Latin America, with 3,131 voluntary leaders, 4,441employees, and 1,120,755 related users. Banco Credicoop is part to the Argentine Instituto Movilizador de Fondos Cooperativos (I.M.F.C.), and the International Cooperative Alliance (I.C.A.)
